23-06-2004 > Steve Ham 3rd in Spanish Championships 04.
Flying his brand new Tactic 24 for the first time in competition, with reportedly very strong conditions and one flight of 170km, Steve Ham finished 3rd Overall (out of 138 pilots) in the Spanish National Paragliding Championships and Pre-PWC, despite a GPS error which cost him 2nd place. There were three Windtech's in the top 10 and six in the top 15 - more than any other manufacturer, despite the fact that there were more of some makes in the competition! The event was held in 'Pegalajar', which is near Jaen, in the Andalusian province of southern Spain.
Read Steve's report from the event: "I finished 3rd in the Spanish Championships / pre-PWC 2004 on my new Tactic, with 138 pilots in the event. I would have been 2nd, but on one of the days I got to goal in 2nd place I arrived 200m to the left of the cylinder (I had the wrong coordinates for goal in the GPS, and no physical goal line) thus lost the necessary to be vice champion. 6 tasks, including one flight of 170km for me. The area where the competition was held is north of Granada, so similar conditions (i.e. very strong) but the mountains are smaller. The Tactic very very forgiving, especially accelerated. Fast glides better than my Boomerang. In general an excellent wing."
